I honestly don't know at the moment. I'm torn between keeping it a hobby and doing it as a profession.

I want ti use my art to make graphics for video games. Right now Im getting my degree in game and simulation programming but I might go back for a degree in art if I need it. If I don't then I will just keep practicing. I'm already making games. Its pretty fun

Same here. I'm pursuing a degree in computer sciences, majoring in web development, but I am, at my heart, an artist. My art skills help with game development and web development equally.

Sorry for the late reply, It really does help. Being an artist that is. I even got extra credit in one of my classes because of some 3d models I made that no one else could make :)

I wanna be up on my sketchings to the point that it could be a profession should my initial plan fall through or I get tired of it. I just love the whimsy and focus art brings outta me!

It's a hobby for me because I have a completely different profession, but it is a very important hobby, a true interest, something I would have done on my entire time If I would not have a profession.

I put I want to keep it as a hobby while having another profession. I'm not really sure if that's accurate for what I want, though, lol.

I want to become an art teacher. That's less about my art and more about teaching how to art, lol. I would also like to sell my art if I can, but that's less a profession I think if it's just on the side :T Idkkkk.

I'm a hobbyist. Its what I do! I like things without deadlines, and I don't have to do anything I don't want to, or an editor jumping down my back. Rather have a job that pays well with good hours than a job with people hounding on me 24/7 asking if the manuscript is done.

Want to become a professional artist for movies and/or video games. My drawings still suck so I plan on going to college to help improve my drawings and with any luck I can improve at least alittle bit before I start going to college.

I'd like to do it as it a profession but none of my art professors like anything that I enjoyed making and they mostly killed that dream - _ -;
so I'll just keep it as a hobby

My current plan is actually to just finish up my degree in forest sciences, get a reasonably paid job and eventually pay for myself to go back to school into graphic designs for careers such as logo design or even video game concept design. I also had this secret wanting to work with Pixar or Dreamworks, although that seems a bit far off since I don't know how I feel about staring at a computer screen all day. It certainly would be a drastic change from working in the outdoors!

For the time being, my artwork is just a side thing that I enjoy doing when I can (:

I want to draw because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to. In an industry this competitive, I'd definitely be doing a lot of pieces that I'd derive no pleasure from whatsoever. So I think I'll just keep it as a hobby, making a few extra bucks here and there from people who actually like my work.

I want to do it as a passion, but also I want to keep it as a hobby. It depends on the kind of art, since it's a big blob full of things you can do with it. I have a lot what I love to do, but not everything will be in my professional work when I get to that one day. ;)

Even though my passion is in traditional art, I am currently studying to become a video game designer. I will continue to study traditional art on my own time 9and maybe try to make money off of it) and go to school for digital training.

Art is the thing I'm best at (...which is a little sad since I'm still a huge armature in that field). I would love to become a freelance graphic designer and illustrator as well as a web developer. All which provide an option to work from home, which is really awesome. I still have a longgg way to go though.

I'm about half way between wanting it to be my profession and it actually being my profession ... if I beat out the other three designers for a new local store's logo and mascot, well, it'll be a good start to a freelance business and about 500 bucks in my account. But it's a pretty big IF.

i'm between hobby and profession, but i don't want to make a career out of it, per se. i'm in school now, and i sell things sometimes on etsy, and i've been in a gallery, but for some reason i don't like the idea of "being an artist when i grow up" i think it's because i'm addicted to structure, lol! and sometimes i feel like i need that struggle of finding time in order to be productive.

i enjoy doing it as a hobby though but i want to it to become something more

I want to be be a freelance illustrator. I've learnt everything I could on this job, I just have to fill in the form and to make a website with a portfolio. But I have to make more pieces to put them on my portfolio, there's not a lot of thing yet, and there's nothing practictal, and nothing in the field I want to go in. What's more, I have a hard time trying to grow confident as an artist.
But that's really what I want to do so I'll just go for it.

At this point, I can't decide. I don't feel like I can do art as a profession because I don't have the motivation to put my skills toward a career, and would rather draw what I want without the pressure. Also, I don't want to go to art school. I'd rather go to a college where there are people who are different from me
I think my best solution would be to minor in art. Also, ever since I was little, I've wanted to write and illustrate children's books, so I'd like to see that happen someday.

Shoot, I accidentally hit send before I was done. About the art school thing, I meant that I want to have the experience of meeting different types of people. I feel like if I went to an art school, I would be around the same type of person all the time, and they would all be people like me.
