Life Drawing by Qinni

I think this is the first time I've done a life-drawing in colour digitally. I learned a lot from this, actually, and it was really fun doing it, although it took SO freaking LONG.

use it however you like, whether as anatomy reference or skin-color reference (I found a way to make skin look really realistic just by colours alone, without textures....see if you can figure it out! :D).

Wow! This is awesome! You did this digitally? Did you have your tablet in the studio with you? How long did it take you? Did you use an academic style of measuring? That is really cool... I am in Advanced Figure Drawing at my university and I never thought to do this. You have inspired me :)

thanks! yah, i had my tablet/laptop with me, it took around maybe 30 hours in total, and I don't measure when I do life-drawing ^^;. i do it by eye :).

That's pretty awesome. I haven't gotten good enough to do it by eye yet, but I hope to some day :).

Very nice! The skin looks so natural. You especially have my admiration for the knees. I mean... to me they look just like some weird bumps where bones connect (in real life), so I have no idea how you behind painting them :D Although I think they look very much alike and I'm not sure if that was intended.
All in all: Great work!

You used a range of unexpected colours in the skin. I did a similar thing in one of my most recent pieces - the colours really are there on people. I don't know if that's what you mean but that's what I noticed :)

yes. there are hues of blue and green everywhere on the skin and if you can capture them in the right spots in the right saturation and variation, it becomes a lot more realistic :). over-do it and it'll just look too much.

There's a really nice range of blues and yellows in the skintones. I kind of would like to see it without the cloth/canvas texture, or maybe a smaller resolution one because it's kind of distracting for me. The anatomy is fabulous and I love the facial expressions. It's also nice to see realistic breasts for the first time in days.

I'd write more but breakfast and class are calling. :>

try smiling for 30 minutes at a stretch, with 10 minute breaks in between, for 4 hours.

of course, but the point of life-drawing is to study anatomy and structure, not to to make everything pretty though ^^;~

it looks like you used some light blues and greens to create shading which i was actually taught to use in my painting class, purples are also good for shading as well, but for the main skin tone i see yellows, oranges, and some pinks, its very good Qinni :D
