A Mermaid's Wish by Qinni A Mermaid's Wish by Qinni
"She dreamed of becoming a human someday, not realizing that the human she longed for already loved another. "

I love the original little mermaid; It was seriously my childhood favourite fairytale full of bitter-sweetness. I cried buckets of tears when I first read it. xD;;

I think drawing the water broke my hand. argh D;~ I should probably draw more in-water stuff cause water is SERIOUSLY hard and I need to practice xD;; >A<;;

Done in SAI

My Tumblr (I blog/reblog more than just my art though; I also reblog inspirations I find or photography I like :))

Thank you for dropping by :D

ps. I tried the pose myself and it worked for me o.o;~ Also worked for my mom, lol.

The original had me crying. A mermaid that saves the prince's life, fell in love with him, sacrifice her life and voice to be able to see him, prince thought that the girl walking on the beach saved her, married her, and the mermaid was heartbroken and died (turned into sea foam).
Moral of the story (maybe): Don't sacrifice yourself for someone you just met.

I thought she was tragic in the beginning.

The prince couldn't have married her if he had wanted to: marriages were arranged from birth and used to forge strict political ties. But how do you explain that to a mermaid, someone from a whole other world, who has no inkling of the surface world and how it works?
